Hi Fellas, today i went at his annual gathering and corn roast event, was invited by our friend Warren Gash to sneak up at Mr De Yonge's place and thought i'd share pics of that Fantastic event! ![]() Warren is the first person i met there, he and i spent the whole afternoon together, talking guitars, playing a little, visiting the Shop and wood storage and listening to the great music made by Surprise Guests! Warren is posing here with a copy of The Fretboard journal which he works for and for whom he'll interview Mr De Jonge, a very nice quarterly magazine with plenty of great articles and numerous quality pics. Warren, it was a real pleasure to exchange thoughts on lutherie with you and looking forward to meeting you again bud! ![]() The guitar he's holding proudly is his first and let me tell ya all that it sounds as great as it looks and that Warren is an accomplished player and a very talented builder! Here i s Mike Kennedy, an apprentice there who gave us a tour of the shop, it was awesome, lots more tools than i'll ever own in my entire life and i saw some very beautiful sets of BRW, thanks to him! And a very gorgeous guitar he made! Very impressing! Some pics of the shop people? I'll stop at 10 pics for now for those with dial up! Check out for the (part 2) thread, more pics to come.... ![]() |

Wow! Great pics and great story Serge. Now I really regret not going! Alas, duty calls... Plus, I got to tie up a lot of loose ends on my current 'build'... Looks like a really awesome shop too! |

Hi Serge, It was great meeting you, too. Geez, I need to lay off the weights and kickboxing a bit. ![]() The guitar in the photo below is interesting: It is an ALL bubinga (top/back/sides) double-topped, double-sided steel string that Sagan de Jonge is finishing before he takes off to Japan. Radical stuff. |

It got REALLY good and crowded in the evening. There was a classic rock cover band that was excellent. A thrash metal band that wasn't to EVERYONE'S taste, but I dug it. Sergei looked at me, disapprovingly, so I threw up the devil's horns and headbanged. Ha ha! |
